We’ll explore the history between the two sides and the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that has hosted some memorable battles between the two sides.

The history of the Tottenham vs Manchester City rivalry

Traditionally the two sides have not been viewed as rivals, neither necessarily threatened the other’s chances of winning silverware. But, in the Premier League era, since 1992, Spurs have often been Manchester City’s bogey team with 19 of their 29 top-flight meetings ending in Spurs victory.

But a rivalry was truly born in the 2009/10 season as the two sides battles for fourth place and a spot in the Champions League. The game was tense and hostilities high, and it was Spurs who came out on top with a late winner from Peter Crouch.

Since then the two have continued to battle it out, and Spurs have had glory at their new home, winning every fixture bar one across all competitions at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Memorable clashes at Tottenham Stadium

1. Manchester City’s first time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Just six days after the inaugural game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Pocehttino’s side welcomed City to their new home for the Champions League quarterfinal. It was a tense encounter and City enjoyed plenty of chances. But the home side pinced on their chance and a shot from Son Heung-min saw the only goal of the game to secure victory.

2. Tottenham go top of the league

In November 2020 Tottenham hosted City and were riled up for what they knew would be a tough fixture. All players came out firing and two goals from Son Heung-min and Giovani lo Celso sent Spurs to the top of the table. City dominated possession, but Spurs manager Jose Mourinho displayed an impressive tactical masterclass that saw Spurs enjoy the win.

3. Kane’s scoring record

5th February 2023 was an odd fixture between Tottenham and Manchester City, there was a divide in fans with one half secretly hoping for a loss that would ensure Arsenal’s title hopes were shattered and the other camp of course hoping for glory. The latter group were rewarded with a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Harry Kane in the 15th minute that sealed his name in club history as he became Tottenham’s all-time record scorer.

We’ll explore the history of the rivalry and the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that has hosted the battle in more recent years.

A history of the Tottenham vs. Liverpool rivalry

The Spurs, Liverpool rivalry was one born in recent years but is nonetheless a fiery one that always promises to be a good game.

Tottenham really rose to the top with the arrival of Harry Redknapp in 2008, transforming the club’s fortunes. As became more and more successful they began to seriously challenge Liverpool, notably, when Spurs qualification for Champions League in the 2009/10 season, it caused Liverpool to drop down the table and loose out on European football all together, missing a place in the Europa League.

In recent years it has been Liverpool that have risen to the top, but managers, players and fans are all aware that this match-up could create some interesting results and both teams pose a threat.

The Early Life of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Despite only opening in 2019 and being a new landmark, this stadium is a must-attend for any football fan. It’s a state-of-the-art football venue and multipurpose arena that has really changed the game when it comes to stadia.

Built on the site right next to the old White Hart Lane stadium, the home of Tottenham Hotspur is the largest club stadium in London and has a capacity of 62,850.

Memorable matches

1. A good omen for Spurs?

Tottenham faced their Northern rivals in October 2017 in front of a record-breaking Premier League crowd at Wembley Stadium. The match was forced to be moved due to the construction of the Tottenham Stadium but Tottenham took their chance with a 4-1 victory over Liverpool and a second successive win at their temporary home ground. Many fans suggested this good omen would translate across to their new home at White Hart Lane.

2. Reds lose ground in the title race

Manchester City had beaten Newcastle 4-0 meaning Liverpool couldn’t top the league come Christmas 2021, they needed a win to stay close to their rivals. That wouldn’t happen as Spurs fought a tough battle at the Tottenham Stadium; Harry Kane ended his scoring drought and Son Heung-min bagged a goal in the 74th minute to equalise with Liverpool.

3. Spurs beat a nine-man Liverpool side

Going into the match on 30th September 2023, Spurs and Liverpool were two of three unbeaten teams in the Premier League. But it wasn’t Liverpool’s day as Curtis Jones saw a red card in just the 26th minute and another for Diego Jota in the 69th minute, leaving The Red’s down to 9 men. Spurs took their opportunity and claimed victory in a 2-1 win.

Let’s take a look back at one of the stand-out fixtures in the football calendar between two legendary teams in English football.

Join us at SportsBreaks to explore the history, intense fan rivalry and a selection of unforgettable matches that have defined this fixture throughout the ages.

Liverpool v Chelsea – The Rivalry

The two sides have long been in competition with each other for silverware and a place in the top four of English football.

The rivalry really started upon the arrivals of Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez in 2004. Early on Mourinho openly discussed efforts to try and bring Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard to Chelsea, stirring up quite the controversy in Merseyside.

Shortly after came two games that defined the rivalry for years to come. First was the Carling Cup final which ended in Liverpool defeat after an own goal from Steven Gerrard. Three months later, the two faced each other again in another big game; the Champions League semi-final where this time Liverpool came out on top thanks to Luis Garcia’s infamous and controversial ‘ghost goal’.

Liverpool went on to win that Champions League and Chelsea took the league title and the rivalry has been heated ever since. Both battling for success across all competitions and memories of the heartbreak caused by their rivals always in the forefront of their minds.

Memorable clashes at Anfield

1. Mourinho’s first and only Premier League defeat at Anfield

Mourinho’s Chelsea side had confidence heading to Anfield, having won all of their premier league clashes at the stadium since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, but January 2007 would break that cycle thanks to two early goals from Liverpool. The first came just three minutes in from Dirk Kuyt, and the second from Jermaine Pennant. By the 20th minute the game was won, and Chelsea had a long trip home to soak in their first defeat at Anfield in 3 years.

2. Liverpool’s hopes of Premier League glory

The 2018/2019 season was one of hope for Liverpool fans as they breezed through the start of the season and come April 2019, they sat in a great position but their game against Chelsea was a must win if they wanted to stay on top of Manchester City. They absorbed the pressure and despite their tough competition, came away with a 2-0 win thanks to two goals in three minutes from Mané and Salah. This put Liverpool two points ahead of City with one game in hand, ultimately it wasn’t enough to take the title, but it proved a decisive victory at the time.

3. Chelsea’s biggest defeat at Anfield in 12 years

The most recent clash between the two teams at Anfield took place in January 2024 in which The Reds displayed a dominant display to beat Chelsea 4-1, their biggest win against their rivals in over 10 years. Four different goal scorers got on the scoresheet including Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Díaz.

Looking ahead

Despite the shake up in personnel in recent years, this fixture remains one of the most anticipated games in the football calendar and the fierce rivalry established in the 2000s follows the two sides every time they meet.

Let’s take a look back at one of the stand-out fixtures in the football calendar between two legendary teams in English football.

Join us at SportsBreaks to explore the history, intense fan rivalry and a selection of unforgettable matches that have defined this fixture throughout the ages.

Liverpool vs Arsenal: a history of the rivalry

Liverpool vs Arsenal is one of the greatest rivalries in football; a battle that has resulted in the most goals of any fixture since the conception of the Premier League in 1982.

Liverpool dominated English football for much of the 1970s and 80s, but it was Arsenal that put an end to all of that when they travelled to Anfield on the final day of the 1988/89 season needing a win to claim league victory. They did just that, taking the Premier League title in 1989 and ever since then the rivalry between the two Red sides has been intense.

Other classics include the 2008 Champions League clash that saw Liverpool come out on top, with a memorable back and forth game that ended 4-2 . 12 months later was a Premier League clash that ended 4-4 and in 2017 a packed-out Emirates watched a seven-goal thriller. In short, Liverpool and Arsenal matchups almost always equates to an entertaining game of football with guaranteed goals.

In recent years, the rivalry seems to have simmered down as both sides have fought to rival the dominant Manchester City side for Premier League victory.

The iconic Anfield fortress

Despite Anfield being the well-known home for Liverpool FC, it was actually their cross-town rivals Everton who first played their games at the iconic stadium. But after rent disputes Everton moved out of Anfield and a year later the newly founded Liverpool FC moved in. Their residence at the iconic stadium started off well with a 7-1 win over Rotherham.

In the 1980s, a decision was made to convert the stadium into an all-seater and thus in 1982, the famous Shankly Gates were created, followed by the construction of the Centenary Stand in the 90s, the addition of the Anfield Road Stand and the conversion of the Kop.

These developments made Anfield an attractive option for hosting international games and in the 1996 Euros, the stadium hosted three group matches as well as the quarter final between France and the Netherlands.

Anfield underwent one of its biggest transformations in 2016 which saw expansions to its Main Stand, allowing it to accommodate a record 54,074 fans. There are further plans to expand the Anfield Road Stand which will take the stadium’s capacity to 61,276 making it the fourth-largest stadium in the Premier League.

Matches to remember at Anfield

1. Liverpool dampen Arsenal’s title hopes

Going into one of the final games of the 1997/98 season, Arsenal were in touching distance of Premier League victory. Sitting three points clear of United, they travelled to Anfield and needed a win to maintain a comfortable cushion. Liverpool battered that hope, scoring three goals in 12 minutes during the first half and another in the second. Whilst Arsenal went on to win, the 4-0 defeat certainly put the pressure on.

2. Liverpool’s chance for a trophyArguably the highlight of Liverpool’s winning 2013/14 Premier League campaign was their destruction of Arsenal at Anfield. Arsenal had led the title race for much of the season, but absolutely crumbled up North suffering a 5-1 defeat. Martin Skrtel, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge gave Liverpool fans something to smile about.

3. Liverpool again shatter Arsenal’s title hopes

Towards the end of the 2022/23 season, Liverpool were out of the title race, whilst Arsenal were close to winning their first title since 2004, sitting 5 points clear of Manchester City. Two goals in the first half from the visitors had fans thinking the title was theirs, but the hosts fought back and two goals from Salah and Firmino destroyed Arsenal’s hopes of winning the league and they settled for second.

Looking ahead

This fixture remains one of the most anticipated games in the football calendar and the fierce rivalry established in the late 80s follows the two sides every time they meet.

Join us at Sportsbreaks.com as we dive into one of the most highly anticipated rivalry clashes between Chelsea and Manchester City.

We’ll explore the history of this iconic match-up and the 146-year-old stadium that has hosted it countless times, Stamford Bridge.

A look at the history of the two title chasers: Chelsea vs Manchester City

Whilst some rivalries run deep, this one only formed in the post 2013 and Manchester United era. As United were left without Ferguson, the team started to decline and made space for a new kid on the block to claim victory. The two teams contending have consistently been Chelsea and Manchester City; they’re actually the only two clubs to have won multiple Premier League titles since 2013.

Chelsea had the edge over City for much of the early years of this period as Jose Mourinho lifted his third Premier League title in the 2014/15 season. Two years later, despite the arrival of Pep Guardiola to the Premier League, it was Chelsea who reigned supreme again with Antonio Conte taking the title in his first season.

However, Guardiola found his form, and City have closed the gap in recent years and have been on a dominant run winning the league 6 times in the last 7 seasons.

The rivalry seemed to be simmering down when the two sides met in three times in three competitions over a six-week period. Chelsea and the newly appointed Thomas Tuchel took all three wins; the most notable being the Champions League victory against their rivals

Whilst Chelsea have not been challenging City more recently, the history of the two sides battling it out for silverware never goes unnoticed and you can sense the fierce competition every time they step onto the pitch against each other.

Memorable matches

1. 2003: City’s first season back

City were in their first season back in the top after winning promotion and keen to get on the front foot. However, their first trip to Stamford Bridge proved very difficult for them as The Blues stormed all over them taking a 5-0 win, all from different goal scorers, showcasing their dominance all over the pitch.

2. Chelsea’s dominance despite Mourinho exit

Mourinho made a very controversial exit from the club in September 2007 and everyone questioned whether Chelsea had what it takes to stay on top. They answered in style, beating their Manchester rivals 6-0 and winning their fifth game in a row. Didier Drogba claimed two goals on the day, with the others coming from Michael Essien, Joe Cole, Salomon Kalou and Andriy Shevchenko.

3. A Premier League classic

One of the most recent match-ups between the two in November 2023 saw a goal extravaganza at Stamford Bridge. The game ended 4-4 after Cole Palmer’s stoppage time penalty that saw them equalise and steal a point off the title holders. It was the first Premier League match to feature four equalising goals since Liverpool and Arsenal’s iconic 4-4 draw in 2009 – a game to be remembered.

Looking ahead

Across all competitions, Chelsea hold the lead with 71 wins to Manchester City’s 65. But City’s recent run of form always makes for an entertaining match.

Join us as we dive into one of the fiercest rivalries in English football between Chelsea and Liverpool.

We’ll explore the history of this clash, and the 146-year-old stadium that has hosted it countless times, Stamford Bridge.

A history of the Chelsea vs. Liverpool rivalry

The Chelsea vs. Liverpool rivalry is not one based on geography, but a result of competition and controversy.

The rise of Chelsea in the 2000s saw the two sides face each other in competition for titles both domestic and European. These match-ups and some contentious calls from match officials over the course have ensured the two sides have developed an intense rivalry.

The rivalry wasn’t just fierce between the players but managers as Chelsea and Liverpool both brought in new managers during the summer of 2004; Jose Mourinho for Chelsea and Rafael Benitez for Liverpool. The two managers became known for their ruthless nature and when they met in games they were intense encounters.

The rivalry has cooled in recent years, but the feud between players and fans still runs deep.

Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea FC

Stamford Bridge is amongst the oldest football grounds in the country and has been Chelsea FC’s home since their formation in 1905.

But, in its first 27 years, it was used almost exclusively for athletics competitions. It wasn’t until 1904 that the ownership changed, and the new football-enthusiast owners proposed hosting football at the venue.

Initially the stadium was offered to Fulham, but they turned it down and so a new side was established, Chelsea FC. Samford Bridge has since been their fortress, a tough away game for any visiting opponent.

It has had its fair share of struggles, in the 70s the club faced bankruptcy, and the owners sold the stadium to property developers. After a 10-year fight, ownership of the Bridge was returned to Chelsea in 1992 and it has since undergone extensive redevelopment, now seating 40,341 people.

Memorable matches

1. Final day of the season Champions League decider

May 11th, 2003, Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final league game of the season. The two teams were tied on 64 points heading into the game, holding 4th and 5th so this would ultimately decide who would clinch Champions League qualification. Thanks to goals from Desailly and Grønkjaer it was The Blues that took victory at The Bridge.

2. Reina red card and Chelsea’s league hopes

In a controversial game that saw Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina receive a red card in the 82nd minute of the game. But the damage was done thanks to Gallas and Crespo and the title was as good as confirmed as Chelsea sat top of the league 15 points clear of United in second place and 21 points ahead of Liverpool.

3. Chelsea puts an end to Liverpool’s history-breaking record

Liverpool travelled to Stamford Bridge in January 2022 hoping to become the first team to win three consecutive league visits at The Bridge since Blackburn Rovers in 1996. Liverpool thought they’d got it in the bag after scoring in the 9th and 26th minutes but just before halftime, Kovačić and Christian Pulisic scored in the 42nd and 45th minutes to bring things to a draw. Neither team got on the score sheet again and Chelsea managed to stop The Reds from breaking history at Stamford Bridge.

Looking ahead

Liverpool do have the edge in terms of winning records, having taken the 86 victories to Chelsea’s 65. But the games always promise to be a battle to the end.

Come with us to dive into one of the most historic battles between two top table teams in the Premier League: Manchester United vs Arsenal.

At Sportsbreaks.com we take a look at the history of the rivalry, the iconic Old Trafford stadium where it has taken place for more than 114 years, and some of the most memorable clashes across the years.

The Historic Rivalry

Manchester United and Arsenal have enjoyed an intense rivalry for years and, as two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, they have been consistently in competition with one another for silverware. This competition has often led to heated confrontations between iconic players and managers alike.

The rivalry had been building for several years but truly took off in 1987 when Arsenal’s David Rocastle lashed out after a foul by United’s Norman Whiteside. It would set the precedent for many years to come.

Then came Arsene Wenger in 1996, taking the Gunners to the top of the table, rivalling Manchester United for top spot and silverware. The rivalry seeped into every element of the matchday – from the players to the managers and the fans.

Old Trafford: ‘The Theatre of Dreams’

Manchester United first played their home matches at a 50,000-stadium at Bank Street, but the then president had bigger ambitions for the club and planned to build a new stadium with double the capacity. As a result, Old Trafford was created and officially opened in 1910 with a stadium that hosted 80,000 people.

Old Trafford was then used as a depot by the military in World War Two and was heavily damaged by a German bombing raid. The stadium was reconstructed and Manchester United moved back in 1949. Over the years there have been consistent developments and improvements made

Named the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ by legend Sir Bobby Charlton, Old Trafford has hosted some iconic and memorable football matches including the 1996 Euro semi-final, 2003 Champions League final and most recently the opener of the 2022 Women’s Euros.

Memorable Matches

  1. 21st September, 2003: Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal.

The Gunners, looking for a title of their own, travelled to the home of the defending champions in what has become known as the ‘Battle of Old Trafford’. Despite ending 0-0, it was a fiercely contested match filled with heated animosity between players that boiled over following Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s missed penalty.

  1. 24th October, 2004: Man Utd 2-0 Arsenal.

Pizzagate and the end of the Invincibles. Meetings between these two sides don’t come as iconic as this clash in 2004. United’s 2-0 victory – where Van Nistelrooy this time succeeded from 12 yards prior to Wayne Rooney’s late strike – saw an end to the Gunners’ 49-game unbeaten run.

Amid a brawl in the tunnel post-match, a slice of pizza was thrown at Sir Alex Ferguson by an unknown culprit. In 2017, midfielder Cesc Fabregas ended 13 years of speculation by admitting that he was the mystery offender. Whereas their meeting in 2003 was known as the Battle of Old Trafford, this instalment was aptly dubbed the ‘Battle of the Buffet’.

  1. 28th August, 2011: Man Utd 8-2 Arsenal.

This a day fondly remembered by United fans and there’s plenty of reasons as to why. The Red Devils recorded an 8-2 victory and handed Arsenal their biggest defeat since 1896. United fans were treated to goals from 5 different goal scorers, including a Wayne Rooney hat-trick.

Looking Ahead

Recent years have seen Manchester United slipping down the table and Arsenal dominating their rivals, but United will be looking to get back to old ways.

Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea - The Rivalry

Spurs fans will tell you that their North London neighbours Arsenal are their most fierce rivals, but Chelsea aren’t far off. This fixture is packed with history, controversy and memorable moments…

Tottenham Hotspur was founded in 1882 and have had plenty of domestic success over their history. However, with their last trophy being the League Cup in 2008, many Spurs fans are desperate to bring silverware back to North London.

Over in West London, Chelsea were formed in 1905 and have been somewhat of a modern phenomenon since Roman Abramovich arrived at the club in 2003. Countless players, managers and trophies followed, along with the intensifying of the rivalry with Spurs.

This fixture has long been a heated affair, even as far back as the 1967 FA Cup Final when Spurs ran out 2-0 victors. However, the intensity has grown in recent years with several notable clashes – not least the 2008 League Cup Final where, once again, Spurs came out on top over their West London counterparts. It’s Chelsea who are on top in the overall head-to-head stats, but it’s always a closely-fought battle when these two sides do battle.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The Early Life of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Despite only opening in 2019 and being a new landmark, this stadium is a must-attend for any football fan. It’s a state-of-the-art football venue and multipurpose arena that has really changed the game when it comes to stadia.

Built on the site right next to the old White Hart Lane stadium, the home of Tottenham Hotspur is the largest club stadium in London and has a capacity of 62,850.

Memorable Clashes

1. January 1st, 2015: Tottenham 5-3 Chelsea

Spurs kicked off the new year in style as they edged out an eight-goal thriller against their London rivals. The Blues snatched the advantage with Diego Costa’s opener, but the hosts responded with a Harry Kane brace, Danny Rose strike and a penalty courtesy of Andros Townsend to race to a 4-1 lead. Consolations from Eden Hazard and John Terry sandwiched Spurs’ fifth, provided by Nacer Chadli.

2. November 24th, 2018: Tottenham 3-1 Chelsea

This game is remembered fondly by Spurs fans and recognised as one of the highlights of their stint at Wembley Stadium. Tottenham claimed a second successive league win over Chelsea for the first time in over 31 years, with Heung-min Son’s mazy solo run and goal from his own half the defining moment.

3. February 26, 2023: Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

Chelsea had won on each of their three previous visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by an aggregate score of six goals to nil, but Spurs stopped the rot with this professional performance. Goals from Harry Kane and Oliver Skipp did the business for the North London team.

What’s Next?

With the rivalry only growing fiercer in recent years, this fixture is always ones that fans look out for. With both teams pushing for Europe this season it’s sure to be an equally intense encounter.

Join us at Sportsbreaks.com as we dive into one of the most highly anticipated rivalry matchups between Chelsea and Manchester United.

We’ll explore the history of this clash and the 146-year-old stadium that has hosted it countless times, Stamford Bridge.

The history of the title chasers: Chelsea v. Manchester United

Football rivalries are usually born out of either geographical proximity or persistent competition for silverware and in this case, it’s the latter.

Both clubs enjoyed success independent of each other, they never posed much of threat to each other until the 90s when Alex Ferguson guided United to their first Premier League titles.

The rivalry only heightened as the Mourinho era began. Prior to that, Manchester United and Arsenal had been in a two-horse race battling for every trophy in the country, but with new investment and a new manager, the club caught up. The Portuguese manager took the club to two league titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups in just three years.

Between 2004 and 2011 it was either Chelsea or Manchester United that won the Premier League title; they really were the two dominant teams at the top and regardless of their standing in the table now, they continue to bring this fierce competition to one up their opponent every time they face each other.

Memorable clashes at Stamford Bridge

1. Start of the Mourinho era of dominance

Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge at Stamford Bridge saw him face tough opponents, Manchester United on 14th August 2004. It was a cagey match but an early goal from Eidur Gudjonsson was the deciding factor that sent United home with no points.

2. Mourinho returns as a Red

October 23rd 2016 saw Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge, but this time as manager of their rivals, Manchester United. It wasn’t a positive outing for his new side as Chelsea took the lead just 30 seconds in and went on to win 4-0.

3. The latest drama-filled clash

Thursday 4th April was the last time the two sides faced each other at Stamford Bridge, and it was one of the most memorable matchups. Chelsea came away with all three points thanks to a 4-3 win, despite United being up 2-3 at 90 minutes. Two late penalties helped Chelsea seal the deal in a historic win.

Looking ahead

Chelsea and Manchester United have drawn more matches than any other club, with 53 out of 164 league matches ending in a tie. It is always a game that leaves fans on their edge of their seats.

We’ll explore the history of the London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham and the 146-year-old stadium that has hosted it countless times, Stamford Bridge.

The Battle of the Bridge rivalry uncovered: Chelsea v. Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea vs. Tottenham has become one of the fiercest rivalries in English football, not just because of its proximity, but largely a result of some controversial decisions.

The real rivalry began in the 1975 season where they both met as relegation rivals – Tottenham won, and Chelsea went down a few weeks later. Spurs went on to have a dominant streak, winning league titles and two FA Cups. Meanwhile Chelsea was at rock bottom, nearly relegated from Division Two in 1983.

Come 1990, Chelsea started to hit form and enjoyed a period of dominance over their rivals. Over the next 16 years, Chelsea did not lose a single league game against Tottenham; a notable one was a 6-1 thrashing at White Hart Lane in 1997.

Then came the 2016 Battle of the Bridge where Premier League leaders Tottenham visited Stamford Bridge with their eyes on the title, all they had to do was win. Antonio Conte’s side destroyed that hope in what is known as one of the fiercest games in Premier League history. The game ended 2-2 despite Spurs being up 2-0 at halftime with a total of 12 yellow cards were given throughout the match. Chelsea was not letting Tottenham win on home soil for the first time since 1990.

Since this 2016 game the Chelsea Tottenham rivalry has been intense and it’s always a battle when Spurs return to Stamford Bridge.

Memorable clashes at Stamford Bridge

1. The start of a dynasty

December of 1990 saw the start of Chelsea’s dominance over their city rivals. It was a 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge that kicked off 16 years of consecutive wins against their rivals. Goals from Dixon, Bumstead and Durie started a streak of goals that would continue for years to come.

2. Tottenham’s first win at The Bridge in 28-years

April 2018 saw Tottenham visit Stamford Bridge and thanks to goals from Dele Alli and Christian Erikson, Spurs took home all three points with a 3-1 win and their first win at Stamford Bridge in 28 years.

3. A match with no managers

A Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on 14th August 2022 was notable as both Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham’s Antonio Conte were sent off, leaving no managers on the pitch. The match resulted in a 2-2 draw after a 96th minute equaliser from Harry Kane.

Looking ahead
